The history of the first hotel in Hollywood

The first hotel in Hollywood appeared in 1926 and cost 2.5 million dollars. Initially, the Hollywood Roosevelt included 300 rooms, two gardens on the roof, a swimming pool and even a ballroom.

The hotel was well-equipped and had air conditioning. Speaking of which, this system was pretty rare at the time. The establishment also welcomed numerous well-known celebrities in its apartments. For example, Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and Marilyn Monroe stayed in the Hollywood Roosevelt’s rooms.

Remarkable events that took place in the establishment

Hollywood Roosevelt was not a regular hotel but a landmark in LA. Many outstanding occasions occurred in this place. In 1929, the hotel hosted the first Academy Awards ceremony.

In addition, nightclubs also worked on the territory of the institution. Show business stars liked to visit these venues. Such prominent artists as Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin performed here.

There was a suite in the hotel, which was used as a TV studio. It was here that popular shows were held.

In 1979, Hollywood Roosevelt was inducted into the National Register of Historic Places. The institution was recognized as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1991.

The hotel was renovated in 2005, and it continues to welcome guests. Hollywood Roosevelt is considered a luxury hotel. Celebrities and wealthy personas often stay here. It should be noted that the facility has two swimming pools, a spa center, restaurants and a fitness studio. The hotel also serves as a site for various television shoots.

The president after whom the hotel was named

Hollywood Roosevelt was named in honor of the President of the United States of America, Theodore Roosevelt. He is the youngest president in the history of the country who left a significant contribution to the development of the United States.

Theodore Roosevelt was an ordinary American young man. Almost nobody believed that a boy with fragile health would become the president of this large country. However, during his student years, he became interested in politics. It was then that the boy joined the Republican Party. For several years, the future president was a member of the New York State Legislature.

In 1888, he started working at the Public Service Commission. Nine years later, another promotion happened in his career. Theodore Roosevelt was appointed as the Assistant Secretary of the Navy in the administration of President William McKinley.

In 1901, while McKinley headed the country, Roosevelt became vice president. As it is known, McKinley suffered an assassination attempt, after which he died of his injuries in the hospital. That’s how Theodore Roosevelt became the president of the United States of America. He continued to pursue his predecessor’s policy and did a lot for the country.

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has a unique history. This distinguished and high-status establishment in Los Angeles is loved by show business stars. Americans highly praised Roosevelt’s presidency, so they named the hotel in his honor after his death, which became a historical landmark.
